This is the scenery just before going through the Homer Tunnel, which links Milford Sound to Te Anau and Queenstown. The tunnel actually slopes down toward the Milford side with a gradient of 1 in 10... A strange feeling when you're traveling through the darkness.

After driving through the mountain in a long tunnel, we came out to this beautiful view, traveling down the winding road you see - wow!!

We took a short hike to The Chasm, an impressive rock chasm formed by the rushing waters of the Cleddau River.

It was amazing to see all the curves and dips the water had cut into the rock.
